Our Mission


Community Music Junction is an organisation designed to facilitate intercultural and participatory music via education, recreation and creative projects within schools and across communities in Wellington and throughout New Zealand.
Primary Aims – Wellington
  1. Continue to provide opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to make music;
  2. Enable people to enjoy the social aspects, spiritual qualities and life-style benefits gained from participation in music;
  3. Investigate needs for further music activities within different communities and identify suitable spaces for music-making and performing;
  4. Monitor evidence of perceived benefits to participants mental and physical health;
  5. Develop teaching and learning resources and facilitation strategies for community music;
  6. Provide opportunities and support for the training of future music leaders.
Further Aims – New Zealand
  1. Contribute to the continuing professional development of NZ primary and secondary music teachers;
  2. Develop a network of ‘Natural Voice’ vocal leaders and choirs around NZ, for the purposes of developing and sharing resources and good practice (Song Leaders’ Network Aotearoa set up in April 2012);
  3. Collaborate with other music organisations on artistic and educative projects within a shared vision of increasing access to and celebrating innovation in the Arts.
